Atlantis Bahamas Resort Beach Tower

in Atlantis Bahamas

We finally made it to the Atlantis Bahamas Resort! Our reservation was for the Beach Tower, however, we were dropped off to check in at Coral Towers. Everything is connected so it is easy to get from building to building. We were early for check-in, so there was a luggage stowing room where we could park our bags. We then grabbed some maps of the Atlantis resort in the Bahamas to figure out where we wanted to grab some lunch. We ended up walking down to the Marina Pizzeria and then taking it back into the lobby at Coral Towers. We enjoyed our pizza while looking over the maps we had picked up to get the lay of the land. The Atlantis resort in Bahamas is huge. It is more like five hotels – Beach Tower, Coral Towers, Royal Towers, The Cove Atlantis and The Reef Atlantis. As far as distance goes, Atlantis towers how close are they? Well, wear your walking shoes.

The Beach Tower at the Atlantis resort Paradise Island Bahamas is great if you are traveling with children. The Lazy River and the River Pool is right there. Sitting in a tube, you can slowly meander around a quarter-mile loop, guided by a gentle current.  The zero-entry River Pool deepens gradually, like walking into the ocean. We didn’t swim in the River Pool as our little boy wanted to be playing on the bigger slides which were located in the mail pool area. The River Pool area would be great for those with smaller children who want to be away from the hustle and bustle of the water slides area.

The Atlantis Beach is one of three beaches at the Atlantis Beach resort Bahamas and it is right off the Beach Tower. This was the first thing we did as far as playing in the water. Our little guy loved it until he took a big wave in the face. He has now decided he prefers the pools to the beach. Paradise Lagoon Beach is also nearly. This 7-acre Paradise Lagoon offers snorkeling, paddle boats and other water sports in a protected environment – great for the kids. I thought this area was really cool. You have the feel of the beach, but you’re protected…no scary marine life…no big waves. I’d like to snorkel in this area with our little guy when he’s a bit older. We talked to one family and they said it was great. They actually got to take fish food out to attract fish.

There are several marine life exhibits near the Beach Tower too including the Hibiscus Turtle Lagoon which contains green sea and hawksbill turtles indigenous to The Bahamas. During feeding times, guests have the opportunity to touch and feed the turtles. The Seagrapes Lagoon features colorful tropical fish. At the Stingray Lagoon you can even feed the stingrays during set times.

The Atlantis Theater is between the Beach Tower and Coral Towers. Movies are shown free at 5, 7 & 9 p.m. We found the 5 p.m. show was best suited for younger children. The Atlantis Theater came in handy when weather closed the water slides and pools one day during our stay. We saw The Pink Panther 2. The theater also serves snacks, but they are not free – we paid about what we usually pay here for snacks, but got less.

For those with older kids, the Club Rush Teen Center is located in the Beach Tower. As our little guy just turned 8, I can’t personally comment on the Teen Center. I did think is was odd, however, that they had a no parents allowed rule. I don’t know if I’d like my child (whatever age) to be alone in a hotel in a foreign country. Gamers Reef, an arcade featuring games like Star Wars, Jurassic Park and Top Skater is also in the Beach Tower. The Earth & Fire Pottery Studio is another option for kids located in the Beach Tower. It is convenient to have all of these non-water activities close by your room…if it rains or for things to do in the evenings as all water activities close at 7 p.m. daily.

Atlantis Kids Club was located nearby in Coral Towers. Although we did not use this service, we saw groups of children being lead around in a “camplike” fashion. Atlantis Kids Club is described as a fun way for kids ages 3-12 to discover the mysteries of Atlantis while making new friends. All children must be toilet trained and diaper/Pull-Up free.

Birthday Celebration at Murray's Delicatessen Atlantis Bahamas Resort

The Beach Tower is close to the Marina Village of the Atlantis hotel and resort Bahamas. Here you will find many family friendly places to eat at Atlantis Bahamas including Johnny Rockets, Bimini Road, Cafe Martinique, Carmine’s, Seafire Steakhouse. They also have a Starbucks and Ben & Jerry’s in the Marina Village. One morning I thought I’d walk down to Starbucks and use a Starbucks gift card. I was not surprised to find, however, they did not accept Starbucks gift cards. I did get some fruit for about $4 which I didn’t think was too bad. I had seen some another place for $9. On the way to the Marina Village, you will also find the Marina Pizzeria and Murray’s Delicatessen. We ate at Johnny Rockets, Marina Pizzeria and Murray’s Delicatessen. Keep in mind all restaurants are more expensive at the Atlantis resort; however, we found these three more reasonable. You’ll pay around $3 for soft drinks and there are no free refills. The pizza was good at the Marina Pizzeria. Johnny Rockets was the same as it is here – but pricier. Murray’s was great. We ate there on our little boy’s birthday. He is a rather picky eater and we had a hard time finding things he would eat at the resort. He ended up getting grilled cheese at Murray’s and it was the only thing he really said he like the whole trip. They also had mac & cheese, peanut butter and jelly, chicken strips…a great selection of things kids enjoy. They even had a clown there that evening and he brought out a piece of cake for our son. The clown and one of the waitresses even sang Happy Birthday to him.

I definitely recommend the Beach Tower if you are planning on bringing your children to the Atlantis Bahamas Resort. Everything for kids is right there or within a 5 minute walk.
